Playa Frambes Progress 2004

October 2004

This month we purchased the 12X16 foot roll up doors for the garage.

Our favorite store, The Home Depot, DID NOT have the best price and would not meet or beat my best price.
Martin Rollup Doors were quoted at $2600 for two, and Clopay Rollup Doors were quoted at $1798 for two. We even contacted Clopay directly, twice, to see if they could meet or beat our best price. No way, they have a fixed pricing system.

We contacted the Import/Export Service Division of Home Depot at their headquarters in Florida and they failed to do anything except send us some worthless old flyers that looked like they’d been sitting around some office for several years. One manager sent me an email and said he "would call" but he never did.
We were very disappointed with their service.

We were about to give up and just buy any door, when Bob, driving through Chino CA, saw a door manufacturer's website on a panel delivery truck.

We looked up the website and contacted the manufacturer.

We finally purchased our two rollup doors from Wisdom Doors in Chino CA for $1600 and have them in the garage.

The owner of Wisdom Doors talked me into getting insulated doors to increase the strength and avoid damage during strong winds that might occur at the beach.

He also offered me his flatbed trailer to transport the units to Tijuana so we can import and take them to the freight forwarder.

Pretty nice people to work with. They also have a helpful staff in the office.

We will import the doors sometime next year when Efern is ready to install them. We don’t want the doors to sit outside in the elements because of the insulation.

Bob drove to Mulege for a few days the week of October 11th and visited. Susan had to work. Too bad....
Everyone seems fine.

The winter crowd has not yet arrived.

Efern can’t start the construction until December, because he is finishing two houses in Punta Chivato.

Bob drove to the construction site in Punta Chivato and the houses look GREAT!!
These are lucky owners!!

Efern Hernandez had the pad for the garage graded.

Everything looks ready.
