Construction of our garage is almost done...
Bob traveled to Mulege Memorial Weekend.
The garage is almost done!!!
The ramp is in and the rebar on the top has been removed.
We were missing two panels for the 12 foot garage doors. The garage manufacturer in Chino CA came through and we were able to get two more panels to finish the project.
We decided to put the water tanks underground in plastic tanks. These three tanks will hold about 2000 gallons of water.
Efren built a cript to store the three tanks. This will make it easy to dump the replacement water into the storage containers.
The opening in the middle is to fill the tanks. The hole in the front is for servicing the pipes if something goes wrong. Bob won't fit through the hole...too big!!!
Susan will have to be the "tunnel rat"...Susan hopes nothing goes wrong!!!
The septic tank is a three stage type that is used in this area. We considered fiberglass but were talked out of this idea by others that had problems with these.
It just wasn't worth the money and effort.
Efern says the overflow pipes are installed incorrectly. They are backwards and will be corrected next week.
Efren had the ladder made for the access to the roof.
Looks just like our unit at work.
They made metal handles that run up the sides to hold on to.
The hatch on top is locked from the inside.
The roof area will be a perfect place for the solar equipment.
Javier hosted a small fiesta at the Las Casitas in Mulege for our celebration of the completion of the garage.
Carne Asada!!!
Great dinner.
Thanks Javier!!!
Tractor Import
Bob imported the John Deere 400 garden tractor.
The process was very easy with Rafaels help but took 3 hours at the border.
Things sure have changed in Mexico.
We used Ebay to establish a value, the broker used email to comunicate with us the week before, and the broker used a camera cell phone to take pictures.
The import cost was 25% of the invoice.
The "chain thing" on the back of the tractor is a "Chain Harrow" made by Pete Kovar in Minnesota.
Here is the link again to Baja Construction's website.
This will be used for our dirt roads.
Pete makes the best unit in the country.

My friend "The Inspector" was still hanging around...He's very friendly.
Our neighbors are still fishing.
WE'LL BE BACK.....
