September 2006 Progress Report
We traveled to Mulege a week after the storm "John" went through.

The road was passable but had some rough spots...
The area really got hit hard around the river
Flooding along the river was
terrible.
Many families lost everything.

The road was temporarily repaired before we left.
We have a ringing phone now!!!
We bought Vonnage Computer Phone Service for $19.99 a month.
We got a local Southern California phone number and the phone rings anywhere you take the modem.
So far we've called Canada, Northern and Southern California, Utah, and Georgia...
FREE long distance anywhere in the USA.
$.08 a minute to call a number in Mexico.
There is a one second delay using our SAT internet and...
you cannot talk over the other person but...
in a place with no phone service this will be GREAT!!!
We don't need to leave the computer on either...
just the modem...this uses very little electricity.
Susan's computer went out the day we left so she loaded mine in the truck.
When we got there we realized that Susan's monitor would not plug into my computer.
I was able to borrow a monitor from the internet store across from the Equipales Restruant in town.
What a nice guy!!!
I mounted the Hot Water Heater to the wall...
Now all we have to do is hook up the pipes...
Next trip...
